This morning, I was in line at my local McDonalds (and I like this one because dogs are always welcome). Maybe they’re bending the rules a bit with this laissez-faire policy but I’ve yet to see anything but truly positive reactions from the customers.

The USA is a nation that values personal freedoms more than most. To succeed as a society, we also realize that we must do things that we may or may not agree with for the greater good. For example, I would love to drive as fast as my car can go and my abilities allow, but I accept that speed limits are required for my safety and the safety of others. I was also required to learn to drive before I was issued a license to drive.

Like “Sand through an Hourglass, So goes the Days of Our Lives” …and this is the “time” to spend a day (or two, or three) at a National Specialty. In our little world, the “fall” has historically been when many breed clubs will host their big yearly event. By the way, spring has quite a few Nationals as well as the cooler weather of the two seasons which aids exhibitors to be able to travel with less concern about heat issues. (For the most part…until freak events surface due to the increasing “climate change” phenomenon).

The famous quote, “If you’re not cheating, you’re not trying,” was first uttered by WWE Hall of Fame wrestler Eddie Guerrero. NASCAR Hall of Fame driver Richard Petty added a little flair to it with his version, “If you ain’t trying to cheat a little, you ain’t likely to win much.”

I have never been a monarchist. In fact, I’ve always rather admired the American way of doing things.

Recently, The New York Times featured a centerpiece editorial on dog training trends and theories, or something sorta along those lines. Considering the scope of seismic events currently pervading world news, this was an odd topic to say the least. Then again, maybe it was inevitable. Millions of Americans entered the dog owner bazaar during the pandemic. And that’s probably the best way to describe our current state of affairs. You name it, We got it.

The Japanese Chin is thought to have originated in China, rather than Japan, dating from the fourth century or before. It is likely to have common ancestors with the Pekingese, Shih Tzu, Pug, and Tibetan Spaniels, based on information gleaned from monasteries. The breed traveled to Japan as gifts to Japanese nobility.
